1983
After the sale of the two motor vessels PAMINA and PALOMA, the Bremen-based dockyard Vulkan is commissioned to construct the OBO-Carrier PHAROS, which is launched in 1983.
Following 20 years of successful operation, the MV "PHAROS" is sold to China. The world’s first banana full container vessel, MS "PURITAN", subsequently revolutionises the transportation of bananas. Constructed in Japan in 1983, it now not only carries bananas, but also, among other things, deep-frozen shrimps, vegetables and foliage plants. In 2003, this vessel is also sold after 20 successful years in operation, in this case to the long-term charterer Chiquita International.
